Parents Should Safeguard Prescription Drugs, Study Says

BOSTON — Researchers at The Partnership at are urging parents to do a better job of safeguarding their prescription drugs from their children. 56 percent of Bay State parents in the survey say their children have ready access to their prescription pain relievers. 

State officials say prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in the Commonwealth. Their statistics show an average of 12 Massachusetts residents die each week from overdoses on opioids such as codeine and Oxycontin.
